The lithium battery market is heating up, and prices for key materials—including lithium carbonate, lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF₆), and VC additives—continue to climb rapidly. Electrolyte costs are also soaring. Lithium hexafluorophosphate jumped from RMB 47,000/ton in late July to RMB 151,500/ton in November, while VC additive prices surged from RMB 48,800/ton to RMB 140,000/ton in just over a month. Overall, raw material prices are showing a strong upward trend, driven by rising demand from both power batteries and energy storage systems.

Energy storage batteries are currently facing the greatest pressure. After previous price wars, procurement prices are already close to cost level, and further increases are highly likely. Power battery prices remain relatively stable, but high-performance products still carry a pricing premium, providing more room for upward adjustment.

The market is clearly diverging: top-tier companies secure profits through long-term contracts, while smaller players face growing pressure. With tight supply and rising material costs, many downstream manufacturers are racing to secure inventory.
