CALB L148N58 NMC Cell Prices Rise, Further Increases Likely

Prices of CALB L148N58 NMC battery cells have already increased, driven by higher raw material costs and improving market demand. Looking ahead, potential adjustments to China’s export tax rebate policy could further strengthen upward price pressure across the lithium battery market.

The CALB L148N58 is a 58Ah NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) prismatic lithium-ion cell widely used in light EV and energy storage applications. While NMC chemistry offers higher energy density, it is more sensitive to fluctuations in nickel and cobalt prices, which have recently shown renewed volatility.

Price Increases Already in Effect

Recent price adjustments mainly reflect rising cathode material costs, particularly nickel and cobalt, which account for a significant share of total NMC cell production costs. At the same time, recovering demand from EV and energy storage projects has reduced excess supply, allowing prices to move to more sustainable levels.

Policy Changes Could Add Further Pressure

In addition to current cost factors, possible changes to China’s export tax rebate policy from the second half of 2026 onward could further increase export costs for battery cells. If implemented, part of this additional cost would likely be passed on to overseas buyers, adding another layer of upward pressure on pricing.
